What is Evil?

Many people talk about good and evil. But what is evil? Is it something that you can define? Is it simply a judgment?

I think it is something that you can generally define. Evil is a separative force. It is anything that tries to imply that we are different and disconnected. It tries to say that some things belong and some things do not.

I think it is easier to understand when we understand what love is. It is very clear that from a physics point of view and from an energy point of view that all things are energy and that things are not so black and white. We are physical beings, made of up of molecules. Those molecules are made up of atoms. Those atoms are made of subatomic particles like electrons, protons, and neutrons. They are energy. There do not have clear definition until we do something to “collapse them.” This is modern physics and quantum mechanics.

Another way to look at this is that “all that is”, is like white light. It is capable of seeing everything and including everything. Love is like this. It is a force that can see all. The things in the universe, like us, are wavelengths of that light. One of us might be red, and another of us might be blue. Some things we see in similar ways, and other things we see in different ways.

The above image is by Olafur Eliasson. He shows how different the world looks with one color, yellow, versus white light.

In many ways, that is what our life is like. We are like wavelengths of life. We are all part of the one white light of all that is. We each see the world in our own unique color that seems from our perspective like the only color.

Evil is a force that wants to imply that we are not part of the white light but separate from it. It wants to imply that some people are good and some are bad. It wants to imply there is an “us” and “them.” A right and wrong.

We are all one and like different moving cameras seeing the world from our own unique perspective.

I have heard the Law of Attraction described basically as integration: the idea of finding ways to unite the different things in our reality. Love, and particularly unconditional love, is that force. It tries to see the unity in all things. It understands that seeing things from multiple perspectives provides more information that helps each of us.

When you find yourself saying “this should exist” and “that shouldn’t,” you are propagating evil. The paradox is that by validating the things that you do not prefer and that they have a right and reason to exist, they lose their power. When you see this “other thing” or “other person” as needing to be stopped or as evil, you give it power. You lose focus on your own power.

Jesus said: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another". He explained that "this is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
